ABOUT US

WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO

The Council is completely staffed and led by volunteers from the community. We raise funds to purchase marketing materials for volunteer and partner recruitment; assist with volunteer training; purchase books and other materials for volunteer training; and help organize and staff annual recognition events for school district volunteers and business partners.

We work together with volunteers and business sponsors as partners in education. They are also fellow community members; parents, students, businesses, professional people and retired citizens. With school budgets limited to only the most pressing needs, volunteers and business partners represent a limitless resource of expertise, attention, and caring to help today’s youth succeed in school.

COLLABORATIONS

Within the TeamUP Volunteer & Partnership Council, eight standing committees meet on a regular basis to implement the organization’s mission.

The council directly collaborates with the Sarasota County School District’s Volunteer & Partnership Office. We also collaborate with the Education Foundation of Sarasota County and work directly with the community recruiting, training and recognizing school volunteers and partners who support the academic achievement of Sarasota County public school students. The Education Foundation of Sarasota has been a major collaborator since the Council’s inception.

GIVING CHALLENGE INFORMATION

A major accomplishment in 2015 was fulfilling the necessary requirements to become part of the Community Foundation’s Giving Partner Challenge.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

As you know, it does take a community coming together to effectively assist families in the all-important job of raising and educating their children.  In that vein, the council is actively recruiting new volunteers especially volunteer tutors for our elementary volunteer reading tutor programs.  Please thoughtfully consider whether you, a family member, friend, or neighbor might be willing to volunteer. Think about it, please.

Also, do you belong to a civic, social, alumni, career, or religious group that we could contact?  We have a recruitment committee who look forward to speaking to your group about the joys and opportunities available at this time.  Thank you, in advance, for taking time to reflect on how you can help gather new volunteers or become one yourself.  Please contact us at the Volunteer and Partnership Office (941-927-9000, extension 31500) or email at TeamUpVPCouncil@gmail.com .
